TRURO - The value of Colchester County's building permits to the end of February is down by nearly $800,000 over the same period last year.
In the first two months of this year, the county recorded 37 permits valued at $4.3 million compared to 48 permits valued at $5.1 million for the same period last year.
During February, a total of 26 permits were taken out at the county for a value of $2.6 million compared to 24 permits during February 2013, which were valued at $3.1 million.
For the fiscal year to date however, the value of the county's permits is running slightly ahead of last year.
During the current fiscal year, the county recorded 451 building permits valued at $52.1 million, compared to 462 permits for the same period last year, which were valued at $47.8 million.
