TRURO - Students in the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board are staying home today.
The board made the decision early Wednesday morning to cancel school for the day due to the impending weather, much like many other boards and businesses within the province.
Along with the local school board, those attending Ecole acadienne de Truro, Nova Scotia Community College and Dalhousie Agricultural Campus were given a snow day.
What normally loves a lot of snow, Ski Wentworth will be closed due to high winds and blizzard conditions.
"We can't safely run lifts in the high wind," said their tweet about the closure.
Provincial government offices in Yarmouth, Shelburne, Queens, Lunenburg, Digby, Annapolis, Kings, Hants and Halifax counties are closed today. All other provincial offices in other areas remain open, however may close early due to the eather. Decisions will be made by 11 a.m.
Locally, both the Town of Truro and Municipality of Colchester County offices are closed, and the waste collection for zone 6 in the municipality has been postponed until Monday.
The Rath Eastlink Community Centre is closed, with a re-evaluation at around noon.
Today's coffee party in Masstown has also been cancelled.
