There is always lots to do in Colchester County. Here are a few events happening March 20 and 21:

Heritage through postage and genealogy 101

MARCH 20 – Colchester Historeum, Young Street, Truro. 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Thursday legion dinner

MARCH 20 – Ham and scallop potatoes. Royal Canadian Legion, Brunswick Street, Truro. Noon to 1 p.m. Tickets at the legion bar and at the dinner. Cost: $10 per person.

 

Chase the ace

MARCH 20 – Royal Canadian Legion, Truro. Every Thursday night. 6 to 7 p.m. in the lounge.

 

Drop-in knit and crochet group

MARCH 20 – Truro library. 3 to 4:30 p.m. Ages eight and older. Bring your own yarn and needles. Patterns and written instructions will be available.

 

Picture book time

MARCH 20 – Truro library. 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. For children three to five.  Register at 895-1625.

 

Hope Chest Breast Cancer support group meeting

MARCH 20 – Truro police station’s community room, Prince Street, Truro. 7 p.m. Speaker: A representative from the Truro Relay for Life.

 

Truro legion meeting

MARCH 20 – Regular meeting of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26.  In the auditorium of the legion on Brunswick Street, Truro. 7:15 p.m. Initiations of new members will take place.

 

Community refreshments

MARCH 20 – Young Street Gospel Hall. Each Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Free coffee, tea and snacks.

 

Roast pork supper

MARCH 21 – Debert legion. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Supper for $10 includes main meal, dessert, tea or coffee. Everyone welcome.

 

Lenten chowder luncheon

MARCH 21 – Immaculate Conception Church hall. 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Haddock or corn chowder, rolls, dessert. Haddock chowder: $8; corn chowder: $7; children under five get in for free. Tickets available at the door. Takeout available.

 

Old-time dance

MARCH 21 – Douglas Street Recreation Centre. Every Friday in March. 7:30 p.m. Shared lunch, door prize. Sponsored by the Y Senior Citizens Group. Open to ages 50 and older. Admission: $5.

 

Open Door community prayer

MARCH 21 – First Baptist Church’s sanctuary, Prince Street, Truro. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offering personal prayer to the community. Wheelchair accessible.

 

Tween Lego

MARCH 21 – Truro library. 3:30 to 5 p.m. For children eight and older. Registration opens March 14. Register at 895-1625.
