TRURO - For the second straight year, the Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade has cut the fire service rate for area residents.
"I tell you I couldn't be prouder of these people," Coun. Doug MacInnes said in reporting the information to council.
"These are a great bunch of people and good stewards of public money."
Last year, the brigade cut its fire service rate from 12 cents per $100 of assessment to 11 cents. This year, it decreased the rate a further two cents from 11 cents to nine cents.
"That's two years in a row," Deputy Mayor Bill Masters added. "That's a hard act to follow."
