TRURO - Most of Colchester County is under a winter storm warning, according to Environment Canada.
The weather agency issued the winter storm warnings for both Colchester County North and Colchester County - Cobequid Bay early Wednesday morning.
The warning says snow, blowing snow, ice pellets and freezing rain should be expected Wednesday night for those areas as a low pressure system over New England makes its way in Nova Scotia.
Colchester County - Truro and South is only under a rainfall warning with 30 to 50 millimetres of rain expected.
Rain will be heavy at times, beginning in the evening, and move southwest before spreading eastward through the night. Rain will gradually diminish on Thursday.
The winter storm conditions are more likely for Northern Nova Scotia, where temperatures will be slightly colder. The colder temperatures give snow and blowing snow changing through ice pellets to a potential extended period of freezing rain by Thursday morning.
