TRURO – A film screening and panel discussion called Positive Women: Exposing Injustice is being held Monday at the Central Nova Women’s Resource Centre in Truro.

Sponsored by the Northern AIDS Connection Society and the Women’s Centre, the free lunch and learn event is set to run from noon until 2 p.m. at 676 Prince St.

“What if you knew you could go to prison for something you couldn’t change?” is one of the questions to be dealt with in the film screening.

Other questions to be discussed include: what happens if a woman does not disclose her HIV-positive status to a sexual partner?; how does criminalization impact HIV-positive women in Canada who are trying to live their lives in the shadow of stigma and fear? And, does the law actually protect women’s health?

The event is being held in commemoration of International Women’s Day. Lunch and refreshments are to be provided.
