TRURO - Inspirationworx! Skills Development and Employment Expo is bringing star power to Truro.

Fefe Dobson

The event, which takes place March 24 at the Best Western Glengarry, will feature singer, songwriter and actress Fefe Dobson as the guest speaker. The platinum-selling artist will deliver the keynote speeches at both Expos, along with acoustic performances for those in attendance.

“Inspirationworx! is designed to show job seekers and those seeking training and ‘upskilling’ opportunities what options are available to them,” said Futureworx executive director Randy Lindsay, of the organization hosting the Expo.

“Whether it is employers who are currently hiring or schools recruiting students, our booths will cover a wide variety of choices for those looking to make connections, find innovative ways to reach their potential and improve their prospects.”

Inspirationworx! will also offer a variety of workshops to job seekers aimed at increasing their employability skills. Workshop topics will cover generational differences, effective utilization of social media, interviewing tips and several other topics.

There is no charge for anything at Inspirationworx! and the booths and workshops are open to anyone who would like to attend. Pre-registration is not required.

The events will also have a number of activities tailored for employers.

“Our focus is to support the employer base with a view to optimize employee engagement and retention as well as to provide information on programs, supports and resources that are available to them,” Lindsay said. “Employers are key to our success, community strength and economic development and we want to make sure that we get that message out.  We are here to support them and their human resource and staffing needs.”

During her keynote address, Dobson is to talk about her career, how she started and the effort involved in her success.

“We’re hoping it will serve as a motivational tool for those in attendance,” Lindsay said.

This project is funded in part by Employment Nova Scotia.
