TRURO – Three workshops will be held here in late March to help children and youth who are grieving.
The Colchester East Hants Hospice Society, with the support of the IWK Foundation, is hosting the workshops on March 28 and 29. The two facilitators are Margaret Sullivan, a child and youth educator from Miramichi, N.B., and Vincent MacDonald, a grief counsellor who has studied extensively at The Center for Loss and Life Transition in Colorado.
A one-day workshop will be held Friday for professionals, such as teachers, counselors and social workers, who are seeking ways to support young people who have dealt with the death of someone close.
Friday evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., the facilitators will present ways to support communities in times of shared grief.
People with a family or friend with a child or youth who is grieving are invited to Saturday’s session, which will focus on ways to be supportive.
For more information or to register for the workshops, contact Linda Turner, a social worker with the hospice society, at 893-3265 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
