The Canadian Press - Saint Mary's University is searching for a new president.

Colin Dodds, who has served as president since 2000, will return to the classroom when his third term ends in June 2015.

University spokeswoman Margaret Murphy says it was always Dodds' plan to leave the helm at the end of this term and assume teaching duties in the school's master of finance program.

The search for a successor has already begun.

A tender released on Wednesday requests proposals from recruitment firms.

A search committee at the Halifax school has already been struck and plans to consult with the school community during the search process.
