Truro – A family-based concert, that will also raise funds for a children’s hospital, is coming to Truro at the end of the month.

The Orange Blossom Special concert series features the talents of missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are serving throughout the Maritime provinces.

The travelling show will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Evergreen Drive in Truro on Feb. 28 beginning with special performances at 5:45 p.m., including a special prelude by local fiddler Dave Bagnell, accompanied by Max Fraser on piano. Free-will donations will benefit the IWK foundation.

The current program features vocal and instrumental music sure to please children, such as “Pirates of the Caribbean,” ”Beauty and the Beast,”  “Let it Go” from Frozen, and a high-energy narration and performance of “Peter and the Wolf.” Also featured are numbers from the operetta, “Hansel and Gretel.”

The concert series is named after the classic fiddle piece of the same name, “The Orange Blossom Special.”

Last year, the original Orange Blossom Special concert series toured Atlantic Canada, attracting large audiences and collecting more than $5,000 for local charities.
