BIBLE HILL – Another step has been taken in the effort to build a crosswalk along a busy stretch of road in Bible Hill.

Another step taken for possible crosswalk in Bible Hill

During a Village of Bible Hill commission meeting on Tuesday night, village clerk Bob Christianson confirmed a draft proposal of a crosswalk for the Vimy and College road intersection, extending west to Cumming Drive

at the existing crossing at the Dalhousie Agricultural College library, was officially presented to Dal AC officials. Although no reply from the college has been received, an agreement to give the village right-of-way and the use of existing parking space for the crosswalk project would launch the next step of the project.

“We need to acquire a right-of-way from Dal AC. The most critical (spot) is in front of the library … Dal would lose parking spaces near International House,” said Christianson, adding the college could also possibly build a retaining wall.

“Other than that we should be clear.”

Christianson said it wasn’t clear when the village will receive feedback from Dal AC regarding the right-of-way request. It is also unknown at this point how many parking spaces would be lost.

The village would like to go to tender on the project in May, with construction scheduled for June to August.
