Roast beef supper

FEB. 14 – Debert legion. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Supper for $10 includes main meal, dessert, tea or coffee. Everyone welcome.


Card party, 45s

FEB. 14 – 21 Palmer St., Truro. 7 p.m. Everyone welcome. Admission: $3.


Old-time dance

FEB. 14 – Douglas Street Recreation Centre. 7:30 p.m. Shared lunch, door prize. Sponsored by the Truro Y Senior Citizens Group. Ages 50 and older are welcome.


Valentine luncheon

FEB. 14 – Middle Stewiacke Church. Noon. Tickets can be obtained by calling Linda at 671-2314. $10 per person.



FEB. 14 – Old-time dance. West Branch Community Hall. 8:30 p.m. Music by Dave, Jack, Alfie, Catherine and Floyd. Lunch, shared sweets. Admission: $6. Proceeds for the hall.


Community prayer

FEB. 14 – First Baptist Church’s sanctuary, Prince Street. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offering personal prayer to people in the community. Wheelchair accessible.

Roast beef dinner

FEB. 15 – Odd Fellows Hall, Main Street, Tatamagouche. 4 to 6 p.m. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls, dessert, tea or coffee. Pre-order for takeout and delivery. Phone 957-2169. Cost: $12.50 per person.

Truro year-round walk

FEB. 15 – Five or 10 km walk. Rated 1A. Meet at the Holiday Inn, Truro. 10 a.m. For more information, call 897-0147.


Kitchen party

FEB. 15 – Debert and area kitchen party. 1 to 5 p.m. Debert lodge hall, 1191 Plains Rd., Debert. Light lunch.


Valentine’s dance and auction

FEB. 15 – Hosted by the Rolling Phones Midget A Bearcats and MU Rhinos junior C team. Holiday Inn, Truro. The band is Red Bank out of Halifax. Tickets are $10 from any team member or email Becky Dillon at Proceeds for the midget A provincials in Truro in March.


Gospel coffee house

FEB. 15 – Debert Baptist Church. 7 p.m. Food, fellowship.


Chase the ace

FEB. 15 – Engine Room, Truro. 6 to 8 p.m. Weekly winner; draw the ace of spades to win more than $1,300. Tickets are $1.


Slate pancake breakfast

FEB. 15 – Archway Place, 883 Prince St., Truro. 8 to 10:30 a.m. Pancakes, sausage, coffee and tea. Adults, $5; children and seniors, $4. Proceeds to help a Slate Youth Centre delegation go to the Unite and Ignite conference to Ottawa in March.


Knit-in event

FEB. 15 – Colchester Historeum, Young Street, Truro. 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Come and enjoy some time knitting. Call the museum for details. 895-6284.


Jamboree/open mike

FEB. 16 – Wentworth Elementary School. 2 to 5 p.m. Canteen available, donations taken at the door. Proceeds for Wentworth Community School.


Pancake breakfast

FEB. 16 – Debert legion. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pancakes, sausage, beans and brown bread. $7. Takeouts available. Wheelchair accessible.



FEB. 16 – Royal Canadian Legion, Tatamagouche. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ham, bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, fruit cup, tea, coffee, juice. Adults, $7; children under 12, $4; preschoolers get in for free. Takeouts available. 



FEB. 16 – Warwick Mountain Recreation Club. 6:30 to 9 p.m. Featuring local talent Shirley and Gordon Shipley and Friends, Percy Chown. Lunch provided. Door prize and 50/50 draw. Admission: $5.


Sunday market

FEB. 16 – Royal Canadian Legion, Brunswick Street, Truro. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission: $1.
