There are growing fears that a missing 28-year-old Saskatoon man who has Shelburne County connections may have fallen through the ice into the South Saskatchewan River.

Gregory “Myles” MacIntosh was reported missing on Sunday, Feb. 2 by his fiancé. He was last seen by friends at a Saskatoon bar around midnight.

After receiving reports that a person had fallen through the ice and into the water, a search was carried out early that morning by Saskatoon Police, Saskatoon Fire Department River Rescue Team, and a STARS helicopter. They were unsuccessful in locating anyone in the river.

The following day, police officers searching the river’s edge located blood evidence on the ice.

On Tuesday, police met with family members to advise them of progress made in the missing person investigation. The family members were told that the incidents may be connected. The missing person investigation has found no evidence of banking or cell phone activity. Investigators are now waiting for DNA test results of evidence collected on the riverbank.

A number of people who may have come into contact with MacIntosh have been interviewed by officers this week, however police sources say much more work has yet to be completed.

On Friday, the Saskatoon Police Service said it was unable to conclude the missing person investigation.

The Saskatoon StarPhoenix reported that MacIntosh had been with his friends celebrating his upcoming wedding when he went missing.

Police are also investigating a report of a physical altercation that night between two men on a pub crawl bus. When officers arrived one of the men had already left the scene on foot. An initial investigation found that the bus was on route to an east-side bar after leaving the same bar MacIntosh had been asked to leave.

Officers on scene conducted a search for the second man, however it was unsuccessful.
