Nominations open for Medal of Bravery award

Nominations are being accepted to recognize people who have acted bravely, risking their lives to help others.


Nova Scotia's Medal of Bravery will be rewarded to a Nova Scotian again this year, which is the seventh year the award will be given.

“Every year, some Nova Scotians go above and beyond, even at risk to their own safety, in order to help those in need,” said Premier Stephen

McNeil in a news release.

“It’s a privilege to recognize these selfless individuals.”

Nomination forms are available at Access Nova Scotia centres, offices of members of the legislative assembly and at The

deadline for nominations is May 1. Completed nomination forms should be sent to: Provincial Secretary, Medal of Bravery, Department of Justice, 4th floor, 5151 Terminal Rd., Halifax,

N.S., B3J 2L6.

An advisory panel, chaired by retired vice-admiral Duncan Miller, selects the recipients.
