TRURO – A new owner is being sought for the former Bass River Elementary School.
A request for proposals for the building, which closed last June and sent students to West Colchester Consolidated School in September, was officially advertised on Jan. 4, according to an operational services report that was shared at the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board committee-of-the-whole meeting on Wednesday night.
The building is up for grabs “due to Colchester County not exercising its option for the return of the former school,” said the report.
The report also indicates water at the facility has been drained to avoid any potential pipe freezing, but there is still power and security for the site in anticipation of a new owner.
Operational services representatives could not confirm on Wednesday night how much money is being spent on the power and security while the building is closed.
