No one was hurt when this straight truck rolled off the Meteghan wharf about 4 p.m. on Dec. 31.
People on the wharf said four men were working on a lobster car below the truck belonging to St. Mary’s Bay Fisheries, preparing to load lobsters into the truck between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Low tide was about 4 p.m.
One man went up to move the truck when he saw it rolling for the edge of the wharf.
The truck broke away a wharf ladder and smashed part of one lobster car but everyone escaped unhurt.
No one at the scene could explain why the truck rolled off the wharf.
The truck was sitting on end with only the open rear doors visible above the water.
People on the wharf said the owners are hoping to get a crane to lift the truck out of the water.
