The RCMP have completed thier investigation at a Pictou Road residence where two women were murdered last Friday.
“We’re done processing the scene,” RCMP media spokesman Sgt. Al LeBlanc said Tuesday afternoon.
The on-site analysis wrapped up at 1 p.m., he said, although the murder investigation itself is ongoing.
And while the autopsies on both Elizabeth MacPherson, 54, and her daughter Brittany, 24, have been completed, police are not yet ready to disclose the cause of death, LeBlanc said.
The elder MacPherson lived at the residence with Gerald Ashley Rushton, 47, who has been charged with first-degree murder in both deaths.
Brittany MacPherson, who was attending university in Halifax, was visiting her mom for the Christmas holidays.
Rushton is suffering from self-inflicted wounds caused from a failed suicide attempt. Following his release from hospital Saturday night, he was re-admitted Monday morning after re-injuring himself while in custody at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth.
Rushton is scheduled to attend provincial court in Truro on Jan. 15 to set a date for a preliminary inquiry.
