HALIFAX — Halifax police are trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that saw two people wounded at an apartment complex in the city.

Police spokeswoman Theresa Rath says two people were shot in the parking lot of an apartment building on Trinity Avenue around 9:20 a.m. Friday.

Rath says a woman was shot in the face and police believe a man was shot in the torso.

She says the woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, while the man flagged down a passing vehicle, jumped in and then called 911.

Officers later met the man at the Nantucket Avenue bus terminal and he was taken to hospital.

Rath says police have detained two men and a woman after locating another vehicle in Cole Harbour, although it’s not clear at this point whether they are suspects.

There’s no word on the condition of the people who were shot.
