TRURO – A New Year’s Eve family event in Truro will combine music, magic, swimming, skating and more.

Family events planned for New Year’s Eve in Truro

The Town of Truro Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture will host its New Year’s Eve on the Town celebration on Dec. 31.

All events are free of charge, family-friendly and alcohol-free.

According to the recreation department, family swimming will be held at the Wilsons Aquatic Centre at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre from 3 to 5 p.m.

Douglas Street Recreation Centre will welcome the young and young-at-heart for facepainting, balloons, magic and a performance by the Maritime Marionettes. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Residents are also invited to the Colchester Legion Stadium where two bands will perform and a free skate will be held. Fiddler Alycia Putnam and family will perform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the upstairs community room, while Paul Randy Mingo returns for another year, performing downstairs on the arena-level mainstage from 9 p.m. to midnight.

In addition, fireworks will be held outside the stadium at midnight.
