TRURO – The Colchester Historical Society wants to honour people who are dedicated to preserving the history of the area.
The society is accepting nominations for heritage awards that will be presented in February. A heritage award is presented to someone who strives to promote or preserve the history of Colchester County and past recipients have written books, researched family trees and created databases for genealogy, restored buildings, even written songs or plays, for example.
Anybody can submit a nomination. Forms are available at the Colchester Historeum, 29 Young St., and online at www.colchesterhistoreum.ca under the heading heritage. Include with the nomination form information such as photos or written work.
The form must be submitted to the historeum by Jan. 15. The awards will be presented at the annual heritage night ceremony on Feb. 27.
