The following are only a few of the events taking place in the local area on Friday, Dec. 6.

Colchester County activities

Tree lighting

DEC. 6 – Bass River Heritage Society’s annual tree lighting. 6:30 p.m. at the kiosk across form the Dominion Chair Co. Ltd. Homemade cookies, hot chocolate, carols performed by Mike Elliott.

Lego at the library

DEC. 6 – Junior Lego for children ages five to seven. Truro library. 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Registration begins Nov. 29. To register, call 895-1625.

Take Back the Night

DEC. 6 – Take a stand against sexual violence. Hosted by Central Nova Women’s Resource Centre. 6 to 8 p.m. Meet at the centre on Prince Street. Walk in Truro with a poster standing against violence against women.

Tree lighting

DEC. 6 – Masstown community park. 7 p.m. Bonfire, carols, marshmallows, hot chocolate. Everyone welcome. Santa may be there too!

Christmas tea and sale

DEC. 6 – Sixth annual event. Wynn Park Villa. 32 Windsor Way, Truro. 1:30 to 3 p.m. Admission: $5. Call 843-3939 for more information.

Old-time dance

DEC. 6 – Douglas Street Recreation Centre, Truro. 7:30 p.m. Shared lunch, 50/50 draw, door prize. Sponsored by the Truro Y Senior Citizens Group. For ages 50 and older.

Remembrance, Action on Violence Against Women

DEC. 6 – Ceremony in memory of 14 women killed at Ecole Polytechnique in 1989. Truro Welcome Centre. Noon. Hot drinks and snacks to follow.
