TRURO - The Cantabile Society of Truro will celebrate the season with a special concert on Saturday, Dec.14., Cantabile Christmas with Brass.

This evening show will feature the Cantabile Singers and Cantabile Boys' Choir in concert under new artistic director Chris Bowman, along with accompanists Lisa Annand (Cantabile Singers) and Ross Thompson (Cantabile Boys' Choir).  The Cantabile Society also welcomes special guests Scotia Brass and their conductor James Williams.

The concert will feature music for combined choirs and brass, as well as individual pieces by each of the three ensembles. There will also be a chance for the audience to sing along with the choirs and brass on favourite carols.

The program will include a most attractive mixture of arrangements of familiar Christmas carols, cherished holiday songs and new pieces to bring some warmth to the season's chill.

The show’s repertoire ranges from Arthur Honegger's Laudate Dominum to Twelve Brassy Gifts by Howard Cable (based on the Twelve Days of Christmas).

The concert will be held at First United Church in Truro (at the corner of Prince and Lorne streets) on at 7 p.m. Tickets are $17, $5 for students; children 12 and under can get in free. Tickets are available at MacQuarrie's (Esplanade location) or from choir members; remaining tickets will be available at the door.
