WESTCHESTER – The Cobequid Pass is closed for the second time in the past 12 hours.
Authorities have closed the toll section of Highway 104 until at least noon as snow and blowing snow have brought traffic to a standstill. Several tractor trailers and other vehicles have become stuck on the highway as they tried to make their way up the hill toward the toll plaza.
Traffic is being rerouted through the Wentworth Valley and RCMP is askimg motorists to avoid the area while crews work to clear the highway.
Updates can be found by calling 511.
The highway was closed for seven hours Tuesday evening RCMP, firefighters and Special Hazards units responded to a multi-vehicle pile up, which included four tractor trailers, just west of the toll booth in Westchester.
At the time the area was being soaked in heavy rain and blanketed in fog.
Only one person was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The crash closed the eastbound lane of the highway and limited traffic in the westbound lane, prompting authorities to reroute traffic through the Wentworth Valley.
Highway 104 was reopened several hours later once the scene was cleaned up, just before the rain turned to snow.
