North Kentiville man arrested after weapons incident

North Kentville- A 57-year-old man from North Kentville man is expected to appear in court later today facing several Criminal Code charges including weapons offences. 

RCMP received a call just after 3 p.m. yesterday about a man with a gun in a residence on Tupper Road.  Officers contained the area around the home and requested nearby residents to stay inside their homes. An RCMP negotiator and the Emergency Response Team (ETR) were brought to assist with the situation. The man threatened to harm people and himself.

 Shortly after 5 a.m., ETR members entered the dwelling, deployed a CEW (conductive energy weapon) and took the man into custody. He was transported to the Valley Regional Hospital for examination. Police seized an imitation handgun.  They searched the residence and found there was no one else inside.
