TRURO – A tender for replacement of the sewage forcemain at Mingo’s Corner in Central Onslow has been awarded to J.R. Eisner Contracting Ltd., of Fall River.
The Eisner bid was the lowest of three received by the County of Colchester.
It came in at $498,700, compared to a bid of $619,250 by Dexter Construction and $754,200 by Brycon Construction.
CAO Ramesh Ummat told council the municipality has used the company for previous jobs and that it has a respected reputation within the industry.
And Mayor Bob Taylor described the company as “excellent” to work with.
Unlike the existing sewage system, which services the Mingo’s Corner area and is suspended from the highway bridge at Salmon River, the new design will see the pipe installed under the river by using a drilling procedure.
“Hard to believe a $100,000 difference” (in the bids), Councillor Wade Parker said.
