TRURO – About 30 key tourism stakeholders will meet here on Saturday to identify ways to increase visitor traffic in the area.
Keltie Jones, chairwoman of the Town of Truro Tourism Committee, said the group feels the tourism summit will provide important feedback and input to develop a strategy.
“As we were having our tourism meetings we felt we were making decisions without really having a strategy or plan,” said Keltie Jones. Representatives of the town, village of Bible Hill and Municipality of Colchester County will join invited hospitality delegates at the meeting bringing expertise from accommodations, restaurants, sports groups and more.
“I’ve been really pleased with the response to it,” said Jones. “The goal is to identify what our tourism could look like in this area.”
She said to be effective a strategy must involve a wide variety of business and organizational partners in the Truro area and the summit is a great opportunity to “get these people talking.”
Jones said there would be several topics of discussion during the day-long meeting such as how partnerships could strengthen the local tourism industry, new ways to attract visitors and encourage them to stay longer.
