BAY ST. LAWRENCE - Ingonish RCMP have charged a 43-year-old man with attempted murder after a pickup truck forced another car off of a wharf in Cape Breton two weeks ago.
The incident occurred on Oct.9 at 4:30 p.m., when RCMP were called to the wharf in Bay St. Lawrence after reports a truck had pushed another car into the water.
Police say two men were inside the car when it was forced in by the driver of the pick-up truck. The men suffered minor injuries but were able to swim to shore.
On Monday, police arrested Simon Wilfred Bonnar in St. Margaret’s Village in Tantallon. He faces charges of attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
Bonnar appeared in Sydney provincial court earlier this week, and was remanded into custody until a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
