TRURO – Colchester North MLA Karen Casey is expected to be named to cabinet when members of the executive council are sworn in today in Annapolis Royal.
Casey, who lives in Valley, has previous ministerial experience in the departments of health and education while a Progressive Conservative MLA from 2006 to 2009.
In an interview with the Truro Daily News on Monday, she said she would be most comfortable resuming the position of Education Minister but that she wasn’t taking anything for granted and was not considering herself a “shoe-in” for the position.
“Based on my background, everybody knows I’ve spent a lifetime in education (as a teacher and a principal) but that’s not to say I can’t learn a new portfolio,” Casey said.
Members of the executive council are to be sworn in by Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant beginning at 11 a.m.
