A prominent aboriginal leader in Nova Scotia has been sentenced to 100 days in jail for trying to lure an underage girl through the Internet.
Pierre Joseph Simon was one of five men arrested in a Halifax police sting last winter.
He was subsequently fired from his post as CEO of the Shubenacadie First Nation.
Simon was sentenced Thursday in Halifax provincial court.
Defence lawyer Mike Taylor described Simon during the sentencing hearing as lonely, divorced and depressed.
Simon was one of more than 100 people who replied to a fake ad offering sex with an underage girl named Chrissy.
