TRURO – Looking for a ladies night out?
That’s exactly what Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colchester is hosting Thursday night.
“It’s going to be a fun evening out for the ladies, to get out and socialize,” said Michelle Misener, executive director of the organization, about the second annual event.
“It’s an event to celebrate our 35th anniversary, but it’s a fundraiser for us too.”
The event, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Glengarry, will feature a number of different options for those in attendance.
“We’ll be having a silent auction, as well as a treasure box raffle – depending on how many people that are there, there will be that same number of boxes available for purchase. There are five prizes to be awarded to the people with those lucky boxes,” said Misener.
Along with the silent auction and raffle, 10 vendors will be set up for ladies to peruse – from travel and photography, to jewelry and home décor.
“It’s a chance for these ladies to go and see what these vendors offer without having that pressure to buy,” the executive director said.
There will also be refreshments and wine tasting. Harry Bentham will provide live entertainment on the piano, and two special guests will make appearances.
“This year we have Emmett Blois and Jillian MacLaughlin from television’s Big Brother Canada,” said Misener.
“It’s Jillian’s birthday, so we’ll be having cake, and they have agreed to have their pictures taken with the ladies.”
With 200 tickets available for the event, only 80 remained as of Tuesday afternoon. Misener expected the tickets to sell out before the event started.
“Anyone that wants a ticket should call us at the office to see if we have any left,” she said.
Tickets are $25 each. Anyone interested in attending can call the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colchester office at 895-4562.
