OTTAWA – Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley MP Scott Armstrong was sworn in here Tuesday and is now officially the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment and Social Development.
Joined by his wife Tammy and a number of family members, Armstrong swore his oath before Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The oath was administered by the Clerk of the Privy Council, Wayne G. Wouters.
“I am thrilled to take on this position and look forward to working closely with the Honourable Jason Kenny during this upcoming session of the House,” said Armstrong, in a news release. “Our government’s focus remains on the economy and jobs and this portfolio will certainly be in that mix.”
The promotion is Armstrong’s second since his first election to the House of Commons in a by-election in 2009. Armstrong was appointed Atlantic Caucus Chair in 2012 and remained in that capacity until his recent appointment.
