TRURO – The local school board is promoting Mi’kmaq History Month with a number of upcoming events.
Each year, in the month of October, Nova Scotians celebrate the contributions of Mi’kmaq people to Nova Scotia’s past, present and future with Mi’kmaq History Month.
Chignecto-Central Regional School Board has begun its month-long celebrations and educational events at CCRSB schools and across Nova Scotia.
During Wednesday night’s committee-of-the-whole meeting in Truro, a presentation by Patsy Paul-Martin and Brady Googoo will be offered.
In addition this month, CCRSB students will delve deeper into the history and contributions of the Mi’kmaq people. They will participate in assemblies, traditional drumming and dancing classes, history and research projects and in-class discussions.
Also, this Thursday and Friday, educators from across CCRSB will gather at the Glooscap Centre in Millbrook for the 15th annual Mi’kmaq educator’s conference.
