VALLEY – A truck fire on Highway 104 shut down westbound traffic for almost an hour Monday morning as fire fighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
The fire appeared to have started in one of the rear trailer wheels and at least two tires were nearly burned off their rims. Some of the pulpwood being transported appeared charred where the flames had worked their way up the right-hand side of the load.
The fire did not reach anywhere near the cab and no injuries were reported.
Fire fighters from Valley Kemptown responded to the blaze, which occurred around 7 a.m.
The incident occurred just east of Exit 17 in Valley and a long line of stalled vehicles stretched back almost to Exit 18 before traffic resumed at about 8 a.m.
No further details were immediately available.
