BEDFORD - Police are investigating the theft of a feathered friend at a Bedford pet store.

An image posted to Kijiji allegedly showing a man walking out with a parrot from Pets Unlimited in Bedford on Monday night.

Around 7 p.m. Monday, Halifax Regional Police say two men walked into the Pets Unlimited in the Bedford Commons, and one walked out with a parrot.

Police say one of the men kept staff busy while the other entered the parrot enclosure and took the parrot. When staff tried to stop the suspect from taking the bird, police say they were blocked by the second man.

A post on Kijiji that allegedly shows someone walking out of the pet store with a parrot in hand says the bird is a blue front Amazon named Schooner worth about $2,000.

“We miss Schooner desperately and are worried sick. Please keep your eyes and ears open and SHARE,” the post reads.
