DARTMOUTH - A 44-year-old man is facing several charges for allegedly uttering death threats to police after he was found drunk and urinating on a Dartmouth man’s lawn, and then later for trying to assault an officer and steal his handgun.
Police say the accused attempted to punch the home owner as officers were being called to a residence on Pleasant Street in Dartmouth around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The 44-year-old then resisted arrest and allegedly threatened to kill officers as he was being arrested.
Then later after being placed in a cell at Halifax Regional Police headquarters, police say the drunken man tried to assault an officer and steal his handgun. No one ended up being injured.
The 44-year-old is charged with two counts of uttering death threats, and single counts of assault, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and attempt to disarm police.
