Gather up the clan, this is one event they won’t want to miss.
Great Village will be bustling with activity on Sept. 7 for a Community Family Fun Day in support of Frank and Marguerite Phillips and their family.
Phillips, a 40-year-old father of five children under the age of 13, has been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and is undergoing treatments.
He and his wife own and operate Nature Script Farm in Great Village and have been part of the farming community for approximately 10 years.
The couple grow chemical and hormone free meat products and are familiar faces at the Truro Farmers’ Market, of which up until earlier this year Phillips sat as a board member.
The family fun day will be held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the field behind Faith Baptist Church, 38 Station Rd., Great Village.
There will be a hive of activity with great fun and games for the whole family, including a washer toss tournament, barbecue and yard sale. For all the ball lovers, a softball tournament is scheduled for the morning. Come on out and cheer on your favourite team.
Kids will have a blast with face painting, sucker pull, fish pond game, balloon animals and other fun games and activities, such as wagon rides and a mock jail.
Donations of good quality items for the yard sale are graciously accepted. Arrangements can be made for items to be picked up at your home by calling Pam at 668-2099.
All proceeds from this event will go to the Phillips family.
Big congratulations to Chris and Robbin Spencer and big brother Connor as they welcomed their baby girl into the world on Aug. 22. Beautiful Arianne Lika Spencer is home and doing wonderful.
