TRURO – Outdoor lovers have the chance to be well equipped heading into another hunting season.
The Nova Scotia Hunting and Outdoor Show is coming to Truro this weekend at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre. The show takes place over three days: on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will feature the region’s leading retailers of hunting gear and equipment, firearms, archery, guiding and outfitters, taxidermist, clubs and associations, ATV/UTV’s, boats and outboards and other power and outdoor equipment with plenty of show sales.
Jeff Campbell, from the Truro chapter of the Delta Waterfowl Group and two-time Canadian duck calling champion, will present calling demonstrations and showcase some winning techniques. Ace Boater.com will be on hand providing boat card testing, and Valley Taxidermy will have a display. In addition, big game displays and scoring, retrieving and obedience-training demonstrations and much more will round out the weekend show.
Show manager Scott Sprague said, in an earlier news release, that the event “compliments our existing and successful outdoor events from our recreation portfolio, including the New Brunswick Sportsmen Show, the Island Outdoor Show and several other boat and RV shows.”
Several prizes are available for visitors including custom knives from Triple X Knives and the Truro Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is donating a print.
The entry fee is $8 for general admission, with ages 10 to 18 set at $6. A weekend pass is $15. Children under 10 are free if accompanied by an adult.
