GREENWICH - It looks like there won’t be a happy ending to the tale of two of the bunnies stolen from Hennigar’s Farm Market here.

Four three-week-old bunnies, similar to the one seen here, have been stolen from the rabbit pen at Hennigar’s Farm Market in Greenwich.

Co-owner Heather Hennigar said Tuesday someone contacted the market to say they had bought two of the missing rabbits on Kijiji. Unfortunately, the bunnies died the following day.

Hennigar said the woman who bought the rabbits met someone named Crystal in a New Minas parking lot the day after the first two bunnies went missing and made the deal.

“It is kind of sad,” she said. “We figured this might happen.”

Because the bunnies were only three weeks old, their chance of survival was questionable, Hennigar said, as they were still nursing.

“She said if she’d known, she would have brought them back,” Hennigar said of the bunny buyer who didn’t know the bunnies were stolen.

Money, a corn machine and two other baby rabbits taken over several nights last week are still unaccounted for.

The Hennigars have not contacted the RCMP, but say media and social media talk of the stolen animals means people are aware of the issue.
