TRURO – Dermatology clinics resumed in Truro on Thursday.
Dr. Richard Langley
Visiting Dermatologist Dr. Richard Langley will see more than 30 patients at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre – saving patients time and travel.
The clinics will be held twice a month and patients can be referred to the clinics by their family doctor.
Langley may increase to weekly clinics over time. He is also a professor and director of research in the division dermatology with Dalhousie University’s Department of Medicine, and president of the Canadian Dermatology Association.
Dermatology is a field of medicine that specializes in diseases and conditions that affect the skin, scalp, hair and nails.
“When planning for the new health centre we felt it was important to include space in our ambulatory care service that would allow us to accommodate more visiting specialists,” said Peter MacKinnon, CEO of the Colchester East Hants Health Authority, in a news release earlier this month. “This is among a number of clinics that will allow residents to avoid travel and receive care closer to home.”
Dermatology clinics have not been held in the Colchester East Hants region since the late Dr. Julius Martin provided the service more than 10 years ago.
