TATAMAGOUCHE – A plan to convert the former library in Tatamagouche into a micro-brewery has been revised.
Building owner Hans Christian Jost now plans to purchase the former meat shop beside the library building and turn it into a micro-brewery. The former library is to be renovated and converted into a complimentary component to the micro-brewery as a meat, cheese or bakery shop, according to information recently presented to Colchester County council.
When the former library was sold by the municipality to Jost last April, part of the transaction agreement was that the building was to be redeveloped as proposed.
Jost would now like to put the micro-brewery into the former meat shop, however, because it is larger. The county has no objection to the change because his intent is to still use it as a commercial venture.
“We thought it was in the spirit of the (original) agreement,” solicitor Dennis James said.
