TRURO - A request for $1,000 in funding has been approved by Colchester County council for the 250th anniversary celebrations of the Onslow Cemetery.
"It's going to bring 200 people in and they're coming from all over North America, according to this," Counc. Doug MacInnes said, of correspondence provided to council.
The celebrations are slated for Sept. 7 and visitors are expected from various parts of Canada and the United States.
Information provided with the request said the cemetery's "humble beginnings" date to 1763, making it one of the "oldest historical burying grounds in Nova Scotia."
