HALIFAX – Members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU) Local 64 have voted in favour of a new tentative agreement.
Local 64 includes workers at Colchester Residential Services Society.
“Thanks to the perseverance of this bargaining committee and the workers who supported their efforts at the table, Local 64 now has a stronger contract,” said Joan Jessome, president of the NSGEU.
Highlights of the three-year agreement, which begins effective Nov. 1, 2012, are wage increases of two per cent in year one, two-and-a-half per cent in year two, and three per cent in year three.
In addition, there were improvements to shift and weekend premiums and overtime language provisions.
There are 72 members in Local 64 are community residential workers who provide invaluable services to persons with intellectual disabilities.
