SYDNEY — A Cape Breton man charged with three counts of attempted murder after stabbings at a house party has been released from custody.
Twenty-two-year-old Colton Joseph MacKinnon of Howie Centre also faces three counts of aggravated assault in connection with the Aug. 3 incident in Ingonish Beach.
MacKinnon has elected to be tried by judge and jury on the charges. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 14, 2014.
RCMP say they were called to a home in Ingonish Beach after three men, aged 18, 19 and 20, were stabbed during a fight. Police say it is unlikely further charges will be filed in the case.
