Cyclist killed in North Sydney collision identified

NORTH SYDNEY - The RCMP Cape Breton Traffic Services is releasing the name of the 53-year-old woman killed Tuesday while riding a bicycle on Highway 125.

Florence's Norma Jean Denney was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, RCMP Cape Breton Traffic Services, assisted by Cape Breton Regional Police, responded to a motor vehicle collision between exits 1 and 2 near North Sydney.  

The cyclist was killed when she was struck by another vehicle coming from behind.  The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Sydney Mines operating a Honda Accord, was not hurt in the collision.  

The investigation is continuing.
