NEW WATERFORD - Cape Breton Regional Police is questioning a man after shots were fired at two homes on Hinchey Avenue here Saturday afternoon.
The 59-year-old man, who lives on the street, was pulled over by police on Lingan Road a short time after the incident was reported at 3:37 p.m.
It’s alleged the man fired several shots at two homes, Staff Sgt. Reg Hutchings said Sunday.
No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
The man spent the night in central lockup before he was questioned Sunday morning about the gunshots.
Hutchings said it’s unclear the exact charges the man may face but they are quite serious.
“It’s a process, right. They (police) have to get warrants in order to seize the weapons, see what damaged (was caused) at the house, interview people at the homes,” he said.
“You need the whole story before you get him in to talk to him so you know where you’re going with it.”
The police force’s major crime unit and identification section are continuing with the investigation.
