Queens County RCMP say they received a call at 1:07 p.m. Sunday reporting what was believed to be a 'human arm' discovered at the end of Centurion Cove Road, just west of the Argyle Shore Provincial Park.
Const. Mitch King said after inspection and further investigation by officers, it appears the remains are the bones from a seal's flipper.
"We're not 100 per cent sure it's a seal flipper, but we're 99 per cent sure," he said, adding that officers are going to be taking the item to the Atlantic Veterinary College on Monday.
King said three officers are fairly certain after having compared the bones to some diagrams.
However, it still has to be checked out by experts, said King.
"We're going to get it checked out. Just to clear up that one per cent (of uncertainty)."
