Dartmouth man charged with attempted murder after shooting

DARTMOUTH - Police say a 23-year-old man man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting in Dartmouth on Friday.

A 42-year-old man turned up at the Dartmouth General Hospital around 7:40 p.m. Friday with a gunshot wound to his lower body.

According to a release from Halifax Regional Police, the man said he’d gotten into a fight in a home on Tacoma Drive with a man who shot him with a handgun.

The victim said he knew his assailant.

At 2 a.m. Sunday, investigators carried out a search warrant at the home, in the 100 block of Tacoma Drive, and arrested Shondell Ogden, 23.

Ogden was held at the Burnside jail and is expected in Dartmouth provincial court today to face seven weapons-related charges and one of attempted murder.
