RCMP issue 118 tickets over long weekend

BIBLE HILL – More than 100 tickets were issued to motorists in the Colchester County area over the Easter weekend.

Officers with RCMP Northern Traffic Services issued 56 tickets for speeding, 44 for failing to wear a seatbelt and six for using a cell phone.

Fines for 12 other violations were also issued.

Most of the tickets issued were handed out along Highway 102, from Enfield to Truro, and in Colchester County on Highway 104.

Motorists are reminded to change lanes and slow to 60 km/h when approaching an emergency vehicle on the side of the road with its lights flashing. Failing to do so is an offence under sections 106E(2) and 106F(1) under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Would like to know the speed of the ones ticketed for that. Seat belts your a dumb a-- if you don't wear one and cellphones should be a three thousand dollar fine six if can be proved it was texting.
