TRURO - Art Battle Canada will make its debut in ‘The Hub’ on Sunday, April 7 at the Split Crow Pub, 515 Prince St.
Starting at 7 p.m. 12 of the regions daring established and emerging painters will compete, with the winner moving on for a chance to compete in the next Art Battle Halifax and a shot at the Championship Battle in June.
Art Battle is a dynamic, inspiring and sometimes frenetic event. With easels set back-to-back-to-back-to-back the audience surrounds the artists in a sea of anticipation. For 20 minutes, the crowd walk in circles around the competitors, watching, cheering and then finally voting for their favourite. Each piece is then put on display and is available for sale via silent auction.
Local artists who have been accepted to compete at this event are: Susan Sweet, Darlene Watters, Ben Brush, Chisolm Cooke, Rob Stewart, Jusy Arsenault, Michele Thibault and Pam Swainson
The medium used for the Art Battle is acrylic paint and the tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any non-mechanical implements. Artists work freestyle, with no reference materials, and the theme is open. Artists can submit samples of their work online at www.artbattle.ca for a chance at a competing spot.
Tickets for Art Battle in Truro are $15 at the door or $10 in advance and can be purchased online or at Thrown Together Pottery, 37 King St., Truro.
