DEBERT – A 73-year-old Belmont woman is being treated in a Halifax hospital after being crushed between two vehicles Saturday afternoon.

RCMP sergeant Al Affleck said the accident occurred when the woman got out of a vehicle driven by her 17-year-old granddaughter, to show her where to park.

The accident occurred at Bonaventure Place in Debert. Affleck said it is believed the granddaughter stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake, catching the grandmother between two vehicles.

The grandmother was conscious and breathing when transported by EHS to Truro Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. She was later transported to the QE II in Halifax for further examination.

No charges are being considered by the police.
